EEHLFA’S first AGM was held on Thursday 29th April 2010 at The East London Tabernacle - Burdett Road - Mile End
For the first time we have a strong, unified voice to take forward a joint campaign to bring about real change for leaseholders and freeholders on all EastendHomes estates.
Now that all launch meetings have been held on all EEH estates in the borough, the AGM was held on the 29th April to elect an official Committee at the East London Tabernacle in Mile End - Also attending were parliamentary candidates from:-
-
Conservative - Tim Archer
-
Liberal Democrat - Jonathan Fryer
-
Respect - George Galloway
Service charges have increased significantly since stock transfer, reviews of EEH's bills & invoices has proven that their accountancy isn't always accurate - and leaseholders & freeholders are paying for their mistakes.

It is hoped that this agreement will go some way to reducing the tensions between the landlord and its residents which risked breaking out into open warfare. Recognition means agreement to consult, to share responsibility for decision making, and the realisation across the social housing sector that we are in it together for the long haul.
Recognition must be seen to deliver efficient services, progressive planning decisions and value for money. Recognition must be seen to guarantee that the Decent Homes Project delivers decent homes without bankrupting homeowners. When you are a pensioner or on the minimum wage a thirty thousand pound bill to replace your roof, your lifts your windows and your estate roads feels like the writing on the wall: Compulsory Purchase Order.
This was not the vision of Right To Buy. This is the nightmare of the Obligation to Sell.
Recognition means that financially viable and socially just solutions must be found so that many ordinary people can take back control of their homes and their lives. Recognition is the last chance to restore confidence, trust and consensus.
Leaseholders from across London as well as local politicians and housing professionals attended the November 25th launch. There is much anticipation that we are creating a model based on mutuality, cooperation self reliance. Martin Young, the Chair of East End Homes who spoke at the launch, has welcomed the recognition of the leaseholder association as an essential part of the EEH strategy “to keep estates to the highest possible standard, to create more and better housing for people of Tower Hamlets in need of affordable homes and a lasting improvement in the quality of life for all residents in East End Homes Estates”
An intense debate resumes about the future of social housing in general and leasehold in particular. Leaseholders will now share both the rights and responsibilities of shaping the debate and living with the outcomes.
